Wrestling Week in Review for 2/10
This was a monster week for wrestling fans, 2 PPV’s and 1 top notch weekly wrestling program from WWE, with a valiant attempt from TNA. This past week TNA gave us their February PPV offering, Against All Odds, WWE gave us an AMAZING match between Shawn Michaels and Jeff Hardy on RAW, and TNA Impact fleshed out the fallout from the unexpected heel turn of Tomko… And in just one day No Way Out will occur! The WWE is going to deliver two separate Elimination Chamber matches, 3 separate World title matches and Ric Flair fights Misteerrrrrrrrr Kenneday for his career. Read more
Ahh.. Vacation.
Just an FYI, I’m taking a bit of a vacation for the next week so there will be little (if any) updates until next week.
Myth-Chief by Robert Asprin
Do you like puns? If not, then stay far far away from anything written by Robert Asprin. Alex (from the mothership) turned me on to these books, a rather punny series of books that deal with Magic, Demons (Dimensional Travellers), Devils (Deevels actually) and a whole host of other things.
It’s quite enjoyable, and also a very quick read. I’ve read the first 6 books in the series, I think this is #13 or so.
I won’t read this for awhile, but I do have the next grouping of the books on my shelf ready to go once I get through Duma Key.
Free Movie Monday kicks off in 15 minutes
For the few of you reading here in “real time”, consider this your bonus for the day. Free Movie Monday will kick off on the mothership at 3PM today. Note that there’s a new addition to the prize library, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vol. 5.
The Forbidden Kingdom
Some new posters for The Forbidden Kingdom have been released, nothing terribly exiting but they do look pretty cool.
I’m still not convinced this movie will be any good, but it has… possibilities.
The rest of the images are after the break.
Things to add to your Netflix queue
The big game is over, and you know you don’t give a rats ass about the Pro Bowl, so let’s see what needs to jump into your Netflix queue this week.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - With a title like that, it has to be worth watching, right?
The Brave One - Jodie Foster becomes a vigilante? Yep, and all indications are she pulls it off pretty well.
It’s a short list this week, but it’ll give us all a chance to catch up a bit eh?
Wrestling Week in Review for 2/2
After last week forced me to write on the weekend I decided to make that the norm, so from now on the column will be available each week between Saturday and Sunday and it’ll start with WWE and close out with the TNA weekly offering… Well now that, that’s out of the way lets talk Wrasslin’.
This was was the week we got to see the results of the Royal Rumble, The Return of John Cena, HHH’s master plan to work his way into the main event @ Wrestlemania, Team 3-D DESTROY the X-Division, Samoa Joe obliterate a table, and AJ Styles begin his face turn. Read more
A couple of pictures from Punisher: War Zone
This fall a new version of Punisher hits the big screen. This is not a sequel, this is a re-do.. but not exactly a re-imagining.
This will be the third time this character has attempted to make it in theaters, and each time you just know the studios were hoping to create a franchise. The first one with Dolph Lundgren was pretty bad… the second with Thomas Jane was actually pretty good, but only made $33 million at the box office, and you aren’t gonna make a franchise with that kind of cash.
This time around the part of Frank Castle (The Punisher) will be played by Ray Stevenson (Pullo from Rome) and also has Dominic West as Jigsaw.
Hopefully the third time really will be the charm as The Punisher is a great character. War Zone is set to open September 12, 2008. Another picture after the break.
Sarah Silverman is F*cking Matt Damon
It’s the end of the day on Friday.. take a 5 minute break and enjoy some laughter. Might want to put on headphones though…
Iron Man trailer during Superbowl
When you’re watching the game Sunday night, keep your eyes open for the new trailer for Iron Man.
This is a screen grab from the trailer that shows Tony Stark testing out some of the tech going into his suit.
I was never an Iron Man fan growing up, so I know virtually nothing about the character (and yes, I know I can wiki it if I want to know) but the previews I’ve seen look like it’ll be a kick ass movie.
